Portland State's Aaron Moore has won the StatSheet Big Sky Player of the Week award for the week ending February 25th. Eastern Washington's Venky Jois has won StatSheet Big Sky Freshman of the Week. And last but not least, Paul Garnica from Northern Colorado takes home StatSheet's Big Sky 6th Man of the Week. Moore put up respectable numbers with 60% shooting, 15 points per game, and 9 rebounds per game. The Portland State senior played well for the Vikings in wins versus Eastern Washington and UC Riverside.

Moore contributed 17 points and 9 rebounds in 34 minutes in an 89-80 win against Eastern Washington. He followed that up with 13 points and 9 rebounds in a 66-58 victory over UC Riverside.

This is the first StatSheet Big Sky Player of the Week award for Aaron Moore. However, he has received an honorable mention. The runner-up this week is our own Kareem Jamar. Honorable mention goes to senior Scott Bamforth from Weber State.

StatSheet Big Sky Freshman of the Week: Eastern Washington's Venky Jois

Venky Jois averaged 29 minutes as a starter for Eastern Washington. His averages in rebounding (8.5 per game), assists (3.5 per game), and blocked shots (2.5 per game) led all Big Sky freshmen. In an 89-80 loss to Portland State, Jois rang up 17 points and 9 rebounds. Against Sam Houston State, in a thin 81-76 win, he led all rebounding with 8 and also put up 6 assists.

Amazingly, Venky Jois has won the StatSheet Big Sky Freshman of the Week 5 times. The runner-up is Shane Benton from North Dakota. Honorable mention goes to Joel Bolomboy from Weber State. Andy Martin was the highest ranking freshman from Montana and finished 4th.

StatSheet Big Sky 6th Man of the Week: Northern Colorado's Paul Garnica

Junior Paul Garnica, a 6-0 reserve guard, averaged 21 minutes of action over two games for the Bears. In a 64-62 loss to North Dakota, Garnica put up 6 points and 3 rebounds. Then in a 79-78 loss to UC Davis, he racked up 12 points and 7 assists.

This is the first time this season that Paul Garnica has won the StatSheet Big Sky 6th Man of the Week. Our own Keron DeShields is runner up. Antonio Biglow, a junior guard from Montana State, receives honorable mention. Montana has won the StatSheet Big Sky Player of the Week award 4 times this season.
